2020 - 2021 SEASON REGISTRATION INFO

The Perth Skating Club has been busy navigating the current situation regarding COVID-19 and Return to Play standards provided by our governing bodies Skate Ontario and Skate Canada as well as guidelines set out by the Town of Perth, our local health unit and the Province of Ontario.

Skate Ontario has come up with a very specific set of return to play guidelines.  The current guidelines, as of July 30, 2020, can be found here:   https://skateontario.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Return-to-Play-Protocols-Skate-Ontario-3.1-Final-1.pdf

CANSKATE:  Programs are permitted to resume as of September 1, 2020.  The current guidelines put in place by Skate Ontario require 100% hands free coaching.  Unfortunately, this means we are not able to offer programming for children in PreCanSkate, Stage 1 and some Stage 2 goupings.  IF the coaching staff has determined your child is eligible for CanSkate programming this season, you will receive a separate e-mail.

INTRO TO JUNIOR AND STARSKATE:  If your child is a part of the Intro to Junior and STARSkate programming with our club, they will return to the ice in September.  Registration will open on Friday August 14, 2020.  Because of limited capacity guidelines set out by Skate Ontario it is very important if you plan to return to skating this season, you register through uplifter (https://perthfsc.uplifterinc.com/registration/ ) before August 31, 2020.

It is a possibility the time of the program you register for could change to ensure we are following capacity guidelines for each session and utilizing our ice time to accommodate as many skaters returning to the ice as possible.  In the first week of September we will confirm skating times based on the number of skaters registered for each session.  Return to the ice is expected Wednesday September 16, 2020.

COVID SCREENING:  Per Skate Ontario guidelines, every skater and parent must be screened upon entry to the arena for each skating session.  Attendance will be taken for contact tracing and questions from the “Health Screening Questionnaire”, provided by Skate Ontario (https://skateontario.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Health_Screening_Q_Fv2.0_Jun17_2020.pdf ), must be answered before participating in all activities offered by the Perth Skating Club.

We are requiring each parent to volunteer on a rotational basis for COVID screening at the door.  Upon registration you will be prompted to agree to volunteer door screening.  A schedule will be sent out prior to the start date of the season.  Please note:  For each minor, one parent must be available inside the arena or parked outside the arena AT ALL TIMES during their children’s scheduled activities should an emergency occur.

ROWAN’S LAW:  Again this year, per Skate Ontario guidelines each skater must read and agree to the Skate Ontario concussion policy and Rowan’s Law upon registration.
