Program Assistants

The program assistants (PAs) are very important to the success of our PreCanSkate and CanSkate Programs. Upon successful completion of a training program in the fall, the PAs work alongside our Professional Coaches to deliver quality programs as mandated by Skate Canada.

We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated and enthusiastic group of program assistants, who volunteer their time and act as exceptional role models for our younger skaters.

We encourage our program assistants to be either 12 years of age, or to have passed their Preliminary FreeSkate test in order to become a PA. The program assistants help with program set up, warm up, group activity, cool‐down, demonstrate skills, lead station rotations, record information and much more.

For many new skaters, the ice can be a very scary place; a smile and helping hand from a program assistant can turn a cold and scary ice rink into a warm, welcoming environment.
